Speakers at a symposium in Washington yesterday discussed ways in which U.S. science programs could catch up, covering everything from increased funding to better training for math and science teachers across the country.
Sally Ride, the first U.S. woman astronaut, spoke at the symposium, arguing, "I feel that we're like Wile E. Coyote, chasing the roadrunner off the cliff and then looking around and realizing that there's no foundation under our feet."
